Luxury Wood Wick Candles by Luxe Intuition

Alyssa Webb, owner and creator of Luxe Intuition, will be joining us for the first time at the Firefly Handmade Holiday Market this November 20 & 21. Her eco-friendly, hand-poured candle line uses only the purest ingredients, without the use of any toxins. Using wooden wicks combined with scents sourced from raw materials, she is able to produce a clean-burning, luxury product that crackles as it burns to enhance your sensory experience. Tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Alyssa Webb, owner and creator of Luxe Intuition Candle Line. Originally from Ohio, I moved from Florida to Colorado about 7 years ago. In my spare time, I try to take it easy. Running two businesses takes up a large portion of my time. In the event I get an extra burst of energy somewhere, I enjoy taking my 8-month-old Australian cattle dog Nova hiking with my boyfriend. I love to travel and enjoy exploring new places.

What led you to start making candles?
I have always had an obsession with candles and enjoy my home smelling clean and fresh. Candle-making for me actually started during the lockdown of 2020 as a way to pass the time and then quickly turned into a newfound passion. I started down the rabbit hole of researching how to make a candle that was non-toxic, sustainable, and scented with blends of essential oils and luxury fragrances. After several months of testing and picking ingredients that represented my healthy way of living, I went with my intuition on deciding to launch this candle line in October 2021.

What do you like about the handmade process?
Choosing the scents to use in the Luxe Intuition Candle Line is my favorite part. I feel like a chemist blending different scents and testing them to see how they perform in the wax and what percentages are best. Currently, there are 5 core scents in the line with 1 seasonal blend that comes out each season. I test for the seasonal blends a few months prior to the season to ensure the perfect scent for that season, but also to make sure we have a perfected candle. Each new scent that is introduced goes through months of rigorous testing to ensure the proper size wooden wick is used for that particular scent and burns well at the correct percentage to give an amazing hot throw for the wax used. We are always experimenting with new scents and looking for ways to incorporate them into the line as Luxe Intuition grows.

What inspires the scents for your candles?
I have always had a love for luxurious, unique and fresh scents, whether it is from a particular essential oil or high-grade fragrance oil. I look to nature as inspiration for the scent choices I use. All of the scents used in the Luxe Intuition Candle Line are vegan, sourced from raw materials and custom blended with the highest grade essential oils and fragrance oils from around the world. You will not find super sweet scents in my line, as typically those scents will lean towards synthetic ingredients-not what Luxe Intuition is about!

How did your career as an esthetician influence your candle design?
My 20-year career as an esthetician played a huge role in my candle ingredient decisions. Knowing how toxic certain ingredients can be, I researched the cleanest and purest ingredients for all aspects of my candle line-wax, wicks, and scent.

What makes your candles eco-friendly?
Eco-friendliness is the heart of Luxe Intuition. We show this in a variety of ways with our company. We aim to recycle and reuse packing materials we receive from our suppliers and utilize recycled materials for branded packaging. We use water-activated packing tape to seal our packages before being shipped out. Instead of a throwaway cover, we opted for a wildflower-seeded plantable dust cover that can be planted in the ground or in the candle vessel once the candle is spent. All of our candle vessels are reusable. The coco-apricot wax that we use is completely sustainable and non-GMO. This is a slow-burning and super clean burning wax- about 80 times cleaner burning than traditional soy and paraffin waxes. The wicks that we use are wooden and sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified mills. Because FSC is the gold standard in forest certification, it is the only system supported by groups such as WWF, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Natural Resources Defense Council, and National Wildlife Federation.

How did you come up with your business name?
The name Luxe Intuition came to me pretty easily. I have always been an intuitive person and I have a love for high-quality items made with high-quality materials. I really liked how the name flowed when I put the words side by side and just went with it.

What are you looking forward to most as a new Firefly Handmade artisan?
I am excited to be a part of Firefly Handmade this year! This is my first year as a vendor and I look forward to meeting new faces and making connections with all of the vendors attending!
