Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Daina, pronounced “day-nuh”. I grew up in Denver so I am a Colorado girl through-and-through. Like most Coloradans I love being outdoors. I mostly hike, rock climb, travel and snowboard. Having done half of the Colorado 14er’s, my goal is to complete them all by 2024.

What’s the story behind your business name?
The name, Adventurist Soap Co, was born out of my love for outdoor adventure.

What inspires your designs?
My designs are inspired by the Colorado Rockies and all things outdoors. I use natural colors like clays and herbs to create swirl patterns that mimic rock formations or colors I see and love in nature. The scents are inspired by outdoor scents and more natural scents like apples, pine, spearmint, and flowers. The soaps have textured tops that mimic mountains.

How does your subscription service work?
Anyone can join at any time and there is no obligation to stay locked into the subscription, although many of my customers love our subscription service and become long time partners. You can pick the frequency of your subscription, then select the products you want to subscribe and add on any additional. We deliver it to you at your selected frequency at a discounted price and it includes free shipping.

How do your products support sustainability and foster environmental stewardship?
Great question! We use only high quality and environmentally friendly ingredients. We’ve opted out of using palm oil, which is often a main ingredient in many soaps, to mitigate our impact on the palm oil industry. Palm oil has been one of the main contributors to deforestation in many of the world's most biodiversity hotspots.

How do you hope to impact your community?
I hope to impact my community by being more involved in hands-on environmental stewardship programs like trail maintenance crews and conservation education schools. I hope that my involvement in such programs will help educate others on the importance of maintaining our lands so we can all enjoy them well in the future. This is so important to me because the outdoors changed my life as I’m sure it has for many others. As long as the outdoors is well maintained, it can continue to serve as a space for people to experience nature.

What do you like about the handmade process?
I like that there is a part of me going into each and every product that is picked up and taken to someone else’s home and used. For me, it is the same pleasure in giving someone a thoughtful gift and seeing them really enjoy the effort and work you put into it.

What do you like about being a Firefly Handmade artisan?
I like being a Firefly Handmade artisan because I enjoy the premium locations that Firefly Handmade offers to their vendors and convenience to their customers. I also enjoy the premium service we receive from being a Firefly Handmade artisan. We receive good communication, options to upgrade packaging, and surveys asking about our experience.
