Pergamena Fine Art

About

Chris Wheeler grew up in Philadelphia and traveled Europe exploring museums before moving to Seattle at age 26 to paint and sculpt. Searching for his true artistic medium, he relocated to Tainan City, Taiwan, for five years to study calligraphy, Chinese landscape painting, and traditional paper-mounting techniques. Mastering how to manipulate paper for scrolls and shoji screens gave him a rare technical foundation that unlocked his signature art form.

Returning to Seattle in 2005, Chris co-founded Nha Vuu Studio and Design with his wife, establishing himself as one of the few U.S. experts capable of restoring antique paper art and centuries-old shoji screens—a practice that led to crafting his own original screen designs. Today, he splits his time between Seattle and Fort Collins, Colorado, running both Nha Vuu Studio and Design and Pergamena Fine Art while balancing art restoration with new creative projects.
