About
Hey there! We are Katie and Tim, the husband-and-wife team behind Anthracite Spirits. We started this venture in 2022 with a simple goal: to root ourselves deeply in the Crested Butte community while building something meaningful and delicious from the ground up. What began as a shared passion for cocktails and a curiosity about distilling has grown into a full-blown operation that keeps us learning and connecting every day. Originally from Boulder, Katie uses her background in graphic design and sales to lead our marketing and self-distribution across Colorado. Tim traded San Diego’s beaches for Colorado’s mountains over 15 years ago, and his years of marathon and triathlon training prepared him well for the endurance needed for small-business ownership.
Together, we handle it all—from R&D, distilling, and bottling to sales, menu creation, and hosting guests at the Anthracite Lounge. Anthracite Spirits was born to be more than just a distillery and tasting room; it's a space where we can share what we learn, swap stories, and celebrate the magic of a good drink in good company. We believe deeply in approachability, whether it’s your first cocktail or your fiftieth, and we love helping people find joy in exploring the spirits world.
