A Huge Welcome to Our Fabulous New & Featured Jewelry Artisan, Nina Flebbe of Ninotchka Goods

A Seeming Career Setback Lead to the Creation of Ninotchka Goods. Nina shares her opportunity and inspiration.

FF: Why did you begin your handmade journey?

NG: I used to work as a shopper for TV commercials in Los Angeles then the writer strike happened and I had a bunch of free time on my hands. I finally had the time to take the metalsmith classes that I had always wanted to take and I never looked back.

FF: What lead you to your current line of goods?

NG: The State necklaces were actually a happy accident, I had a piece of metal left over from a project that just happened to look like California and while wearing it I had so many people asking where to get one so I started producing them.

FF: What materials do you work with & why?

NG: I love to work brass, sterling silver and gold fill. I have always been drawn to mixing metals the contrast between silver and gold.

FF: What inspires your work?

NG: I am inspired by nature, raised in Boulder and now living in California I take inspiration from the mountains and the ocean.

FF: What excites you for the future?

NG: As a mom with a kid about to start preschool, I look forward to getting some time to expand my line and create new ideas.

FF: Any advice for makers and biz entrepreneurs new to our creative community?

NG: Network and promote online.

FF: If you have a strong partnership with a non-profit org, what is it and what inspired you to do this?

NG: I have a partnership with Adoptions Dreams Come True in Fort Collins, CO. I donate jewelry to their fundraiser every year.

FF: Let us know if/where you sell your work other than online and at markets.

NG: In California I sell at Twig and Willow, Made, Mindful Nest. In Colorado I sell at the Colorado Cherry Company in Estes Park. I also sell to stores in Tennessee. Wyoming and Canada.
