We're Thrilled to Welcome Summer Market Featured Artisan and New Firefly, GreenBlossom Coffee, B

Cynthia Demas, founder and CEO of GreenBlossom Coffee, created this delicious and innovative business to support her homeland of Costa Rica, Colorado coffee roasters, schools, education and ultimately our future - our children.

FF: How did you begin your handmade journey?

GBC: I started my handmade journey with my love for my homeland of Costa Rica. I hand selected the best local coffee farmers in Costa Rica and have invested in their farms to support them to produce coffee in the rich traditions of Costa Rican coffee cultivation. The beans are harvested and shipped to the United States where I work with local Denver roasters to produce a unique, one-of-a-kind, and wonderful tasting blend of coffee. The coffee, in beans or grounded are then lovingly placed into custom designed coffee bags and distributed to grocery stores, fairs, farmer’s markets and are the foundation of our fundraising efforts for schools and non-profit organizations that support children.

FF: What lead you to your current line of goods?

GBC: I was born in Costa Rica and I am a former teacher at Temple Emanuel Preschool. Knowing the financial shortfalls that schools face every year and the volume of coffee teachers and parents consume each year – I thought I would marry the two together and launch a fun (and tasty way) for schools to raise needed funds and for coffee drinkers to fill their cups with purpose every morning. I launched GreenBlossom Coffee in 2014 and I am proud that my company has the ability to work with amazing farmers from my homeland of Costa Rica while being able to give back to local schools.

FF: What materials do you work with & why?

GBC: GreenBlossom Coffee is pure Arabica coffee grown in the fertile, low-acid, volcanic soil found only at the higher elevations of the Costa Rican mountains.

FF: Inspiration comes from where?

GBC: My inspiration comes from the hardworking farmers and their families that partner with my company, my love of teaching and the hardworking men and women giving their heart and soul to children’s education, my passion to support non-profit organizations that focus on improving the future of children, and of course, the simple pleasures that come from enjoying an amazing cup of coffee.

FF: What excites you for the future?

GBC: Where do I start? Our future is pretty exciting at GreenBlossom. We have recently launched new coffee beans and delicious organic chocolates. We have updated our fundraising coffee program and we are introducing it to schools and non-profit organizations across the United States.

FF: Any advice for makers and biz entrepreneurs new to our creative community?

GBC: Do what you love and love what you do. At GreenBlossom Coffee we love coffee. We love working with local Costa Rican farmers who care about making a great coffee bean. We love that we can make a coffee that is like no other currently served at local coffee shops or on grocery shelves. Because we do what we love each and every day, we are able to produce a product that is special and with each bag of beans sold we support these amazing farmers and we give back over 50% of our proceeds to local non-profit groups that work with our future…our children.

FF: If you have a strong partnership with a non-profit org, what is it and what inspired you to do this?

GBC: We work alongside schools and non-profit organizations that focus and support children’s programs. We are dedicated to helping children blossom through education and the arts, and to helping schools raise the necessary funds to make their critical programs possible. In 2016 our vision is to be able to work with more organizations and raise thousands of dollars for their causes – while giving people great coffee to enjoy!
