Behind the Scenes with Juiced To Go Mobile Studio Experience - Henna and Face Painting, Spring Marke
Ready for some unique body art by a professional artist? Then you're ready for new Firefly artisan, Karly Ward and her crew from Juiced To Go Mobile Studio Experience!
FF: How did you begin your handmade journey?
JTG: I am an artist and have instructed arts enrichment for 11 years. Learning face painting and henna in 2010 was a natural expansion of my creative practice. I learned from my colleague, Julie Gillen, at her studio Juiced on Imagination. In 2012, I branched off to head up a mobile studio in the greater Denver area, known as Juiced to Go. We have been in business for nearly four years and offer our services at public and private events across Denver and Northern Colorado.
FF: What lead you to your current line of goods?
JTC: Juiced to Go is currently offering face painting, henna, and a minor myriad of other customized creative experiences that vary season to season. Creating the mobile art studio as an ephemeral and transient entity based on interactive experience was a calling that emerged organically out of many years as a practicing artist.
FF: What materials do you work with & why?
JTG: We use professional stage makeup and homemade, natural henna for all of our adornment. Everything is plant-based and made with the cleanest ingredients available. It is very important to me to use materials that are cruelty-free and ecologically responsible.
FF: Inspiration comes from where?
JTG: Everything, all day...The people I meet, the stories I hear, the short moment that I make magic in the lives of other people. The way kids look in the mirror when they've just gotten their face painted for the first time. The crazy synchronicity and abundance of life. The capacity for joy. It all may sound a bit generic, but I truly love what I do because I can make all kinds of people happy.
FF: What excites you for the future?
JTG: It is special to be part of such a vibrant creative community. Every season brings about so much fresh and inspiring creative force. I am excited to see what the year holds.
FF: Any advice for makers and biz entrepreneurs new to our creative community?
JTG: Welcome to the party.
FF: If you have a strong partnership with a non-profit org, what is it and what inspired you to do this?
JTG: I have been an instructor at the Art Garage in Denver's Park Hill neighborhood since 2013. It is a growing community arts center that offers a variety of arts enrichment programs for all ages. I love the strong neighborhood vibe they've cultivated and being able to work with the same students year after year.
FF: Anything else you'd like to tell us?
JTG: We are looking forward to our first Firefly Handmade Market!
