Behind the Scenes with Caitlin Rose Ward of Lonewolf Collective, New and Featured Fall Market Artisa
Super excited to welcome Lonewolf Collective's Caitlin Rose Ward, creating modern jewelry with handmade heart!
FF: How did you begin your handmade journey?
LC: I began with ceramics, creating clay goods religiously from 5th grade until I graduated high school. From there I started to look for a more practical art form, and took an intro to metal smithing course, and fell in love with metalwork.
FF: What lead you to your current line of goods?
LC: Practicality. I wanted to create beautiful things that people could use/wear everyday.
FF: What materials do you work with & why?
LC: I work with fine sterling silver, and a Jewelers brass both made in the USA. I'm slowly beginning to incorporate fine gold.... I use deerskin leather that comes from Wisconsin, and I'm super excited to say I use chain manufactured in Massachusetts (tough to find chain made in the USA).
I want to create pieces that the consumer can feel good about, I use antler sheds from around the Gunnison Valley (Colorado) , and I'm working my way to using locally mined stones.
American made, with the conscious consumer in mind.
FF: Inspiration comes from where?
LC: My inspiration comes from the modern boldness found in runway fashion, and the natural beauty created by Mother Nature. There is something so incredibly beautiful about the simplicity of nature. The integration of the two styles creates a certain "primitive elegance".
FF: What excites you for the future?
LC: The endless possibilities, so many ways Lonewolf collective can grow.... Never stop dreaming.
FF: Any advice for makers and biz entrepreneurs new to our creative community?
LC: Keep on creating, don't ever stop making things.
